This one is the most earwormy track on the album for me. I hear it in my head almost on a daily basis. I get the line, "Dig him up and shake his hand, appreciate the man," most often. Other than the obvious first line, of course.
What I really enjoy, musically, are the drums and the instrumental breaks that interrupt the chorus the last time through, especially the last extended one. The way the snare rolls continuously throughout the verses is friggin' awesome. Also, Flansburgh's guitar tone on the breaks is perfect.
I forgot how short this song is. If I have anything critical to say, it's that I want it to be about 1/3 longer. But maybe it wouldn't be on repeat in my head as much if it weren't 90 seconds.
I agree on the earworminess for SURE. And I think you're onto something with relationship between song length and earworm potency. But I would not complain for this song to have one more verse.
The thing that comes up for me most often is actually the vocalization of the guitar solo in the live version on Severe Tire Damage.
