TMBG was a vocabulary builder for many a human of a certain age. Or any age, I guess. I didn't get the If I Wasn't Shy comparison until you mentioned it, but I suppose there are several songs that have a similar base vibe, especially the accordion-heavy ones.

Yes, the contrast of jaunty music and dark lyrics is their bread and butter, or maybe their meat and potatoes, or maybe their bacon and eggs or maybe their death and taxes.

i was going to say this on your post of If I Wasn't Shy too; when i first heard all of Apollo 18 for the first time i thought they were both the same song. and thanks for showing off that live version of turn around, hearing it for the first time a few minutes ago made me go "oh shit, this is awesome!"

I’m glad you enjoyed that live version too! There is another even slightly better live version on their new Beast of Horns albums but it wasn’t an available readily on YouTube.
